On October 31st, SDNU held a lecture about "Academic Ethos" for postgraduates both in Changqinghu Campus and Qianfoshan Campus. Zhao Qian was invited to give a lecture entitled "The Reading and Writing of Thesis and Academic Standards". More than 600 graduate students listened to the lecture.
Regarding the problems such as poor reading, inadequate academic writing training and inactive attitude towards scientific research, Zhao Qian introduced the present phenomena, focusing on the five aspects to illustrate, that is, "understanding thesis", "reading thesis", "thesis writing", "thesis submission" and "academic norms". She told the students to understand the paper from the classification and composition of the paper, introduced the basic steps of paper writing and how to choose the basic direction of your field. Also, she explained the various functions of data retrieval and reading in detail. At last, she hoped that students can strictly abide by the academic norms, normative quotation, rigorous writing, and resolutely avoid academic misconduct.
In this semester, the Graduate Affairs Office will take the"academic ethos"as an important part of postgraduates entrance education, paving the way for their further academic research.
