Students of SDNU Won the Second Prize in the National English Debate Competition of FLTRP.

On June 5th, the 23rd National English Debate Competition for College Students of FLTRP was held online. Two students, Niu Muyuan and Li Jiangqi from the 19th grade English and French dual class of the School of Foreign Languages, under the guidance of Ms. Liu Yan, represented SDNU in the competition and competed fiercely with 128 teams from four regions around China for two days, and finally won the second prize of the nation.

There were eight rounds of debates, with the topics focusing on current affairs and looking at the future, focusing on values and social views, which guide students to pay attention to national development and analyze social reality. It covers various aspects such as charity, culture, education, sports and entertainment. In each debate, the debaters were randomly assigned to take up different debating roles. Within a short preparation time of 15 minutes, the debaters assembled their arguments through quick brainstorming, predicted their opponent's viewpoints and determined their debate strategies. The two-day tournament comprehensively evaluated the English ability, knowledge base and vision of the contestants.
