Recently, the paper of professor Zheng Yuanjie and his team,“SymReg-GAN: Symmetric Image Registration with Generative Adversarial Networks” was accepted by IEEE TPAMI (IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence). It was also the paper from SDNU that was accepted by IEEE TPAMI for the first time.

IEEE TPAMI is recognized as the top international journal in the field of artificial intelligence pattern recognition, image processing and computer vision. This paper first proposed symmetric image registration GAN(Generative Adversarial Networks), which solved the problem of accurate image registration using deep learning method under the condition of small sample labeling. It has great potential application value in intelligent medical and intelligent transportation and other fields. It is a landmark research achievement in the field of artificial intelligence of SDNU, and Tencent, SenseTime and many other well-known IT companies are interested in cooperation.

The paper was completed by Professor Zheng Yuanjie and PhD student Sui Xiaodan from the School of Information Science and Engineering of SDNU. Zheng Yuanjie graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and went to the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania to do research. After returning to China, Zheng led his team to publish academic papers in well-known journals such as TMM and IJNS, as well as in well-known conferences such as IPMI, MICCAI and so on.

This time, the PhD students published their papers as the main participants in IEEE TPAMI, the highest-level journal of artificial intelligence, which also marked the further improvement in the talent cultivation of SDNU.
