Recently, the selection results of the 10th“Wu Wen Jun AI Science &Technology Award” were announced. The “Visual Media Processing and Application” project led by Sun Jiande, Zhang Huaxiang and Wan Wenbo of School of Information Science and Engineering won the third prize.
“Wu Wen Jun AI Science &Technology Award”is awarded once a year, which was set up by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence in 2011, known as the highest award of intelligence science and technology in China. In the recent years, more than 700 universities, research institutes and enterprises have participated in the competition.
The project carried out by sun Jiande and his team started from the mechanism of human visual system, and carried out basic research on key scientific issues such as representation, retrieval and identification, which provided theoretical support for efficient and accurate visual media retrieval and cross media information retrieval between other forms of media.
