On October 29th, Guo Xusheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, general manager of Sinopec Exploration Company and senior engineer returned to SDNU to give a lecture entitled “Progress and Potentiality of Shale Gas in China”. Presided by Wang Chengxin, director of School of Geography and Environment, some members of faculty, undergraduates and postgraduates attended this meeting hosted in Changqinghu Campus.

The lecture was divided into three parts: “The Progress of Exploration”, “The Development of Theory and Technology” and “The Prospect”. At the end of the lecture, Guo Xusheng expressed his sincere thanks to SDNU. He hoped that more and more young “geographers” could contribute to the national geographical exploration and shale gas exploration.
Through this lecture, teachers and students have close contact with frontier science and technology trends of geographical science and related disciplines, which provides students with a broader idea for future scientific research.
