1.SDNU’s analytical chemistry teaching and research team was selected in Huang Danian - style teacher team in national colleges and universities.

On January 3rd, the Ministry of Education announced the first batch of Huang Danian - style teacher team in national colleges and universities in China,SDNU’s analytical chemistry teaching and research team was in the list.

2.SDNU has been approved four major (key) national scientific research projects.

In 2018, Professor Gao Jiwen and Professor Wan Guangxia from School of Marxism were awarded a major project of the National Social Science Foundation, namely, "Research and Interpretation of the Spirit of the Nineteenth Congress of the Party". Professor Zhang Huaxiang from School of Information Science and Engineering was approved a key project of the National Natural Science Foundation; Professor Sun Lixiang from School of History and Social Development was approved a major project of philosophy and social science research by the Ministry of Education.

3.Two new first-class disciplines of Shandong Province and four authorized points of first-class discipline of doctoral degree were added.

In 2018, pedagogy was selected in the list of first-class disciplines in Shandong Province, physics was selected in the list of first-class disciplines in Shandong Province. Theoretic economics, Marxism theory, computer science and technology, and fine arts have been added as the authorized points of first-level discipline by the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council.

4.SDNU won the Youth Cup for the first time in Shandong college student entrepreneurship competition.

On May 21st,SDNU won the highest honor of Shandong college student entrepreneurship competition - "Youth Cup" with the first overall score of the whole province, and achieved a major breakthrough since participating in the competition.

5.SDNU is ranked 32nd in the natural index among the universities in mainland China.

On June 7th, the Nature Index website updated the 2018 index list. The data update covers the whole year of 2017.SDNU published 79 papers in 82 journals , ranked 32nd among the universities in mainland China, and ranked third in the domestic Normal Universities.

6.SDNU starts the first round of inspection work.

On September 21st,SDNU started the first round of inspection work. By the end of the year of 2018, the first round of inspection work had been completed in 18 units.

7.SDNU employed the first batch of Dongyue scholars.

On September 26th,SDNU held a meeting on the employment of Dongyue scholars. Fifty-four teachers were employed as the first batch of Dongyue scholars, including five leading talents, 29 top-notch talents and 20 young talents.

8.School of Marxism has been selected as the first batch of schools(departments) of comprehensive reform of "three-all-round education" in China.

On October 17th, the Ministry of Education announced the list of the first batch of schools(departments) of comprehensive reform of "three-all-round education" in China.School of Marxism of SDNU has been successfully selected as one of the first 50 schools(departments) of comprehensive reform of "three-all-round education" in China.

9.The engineering discipline of SDNU has entered the top 1% of ESI in the world.

On November 16th, Clarivate Analytics released the latest ESI data, the engineering discipline of SDNU has entered the top 1% of ESI in the world.Data show that from January 1st, 2008 to August 31st, 2018, 349 ESI papers of engineering discipline were published, with 2468 times of being cited , among which there are 11 highly cited papers.

10.The leader of SDNU attended the seminar on the theory of celebrating the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up held by the central and provincial Party committees.

In December,The theoretical seminars on the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up held by the Central Committee and the theoretical seminars on the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up in Shandong Province were held in Beijing and Jinan respectively.Shang Zhixiao, Secretary of the Party Committee of SDNU attended the Theoretical Seminar of the Central Committee. At the Theoretical Seminar of the Provincial Party Committee, he made a key speech.
