On December 28th, the graduation ceremony and the annual award ceremony for outstanding overseas students in autumn 2018 were held in Qianfoshan Campus. Zhang Wenxin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, attended the ceremony. The leaders at the meeting issued certificates for the graduates and honorary certificates for the outstanding overseas students of the year. More than 300 people including the staff of the College of International Education, representatives of teachers, all the overseas students and Chinese student volunteers participated in the ceremony. The ceremony was chaired by Zhao Wenjing, Deputy Director of the College of International Education.
In his speech, Zhou Lianyong expressed his congratulations on the completion of the studies for the overseas graduates and expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the teachers for their hard work. He reviewed the work of 2018 from the aspects of enrollment, education and management of overseas students. He hoped that after returning home, the graduates would strive to disseminate Chinese culture and become a friendly envoy of world cultural integration and friendship between China and foreign countries.
Xu Jingjing spoke as a representative of the teacher. She shared the students' pain and happiness in learning Chinese and hoped that after returning to China, the overseas students could continue to maintain the enthusiasm for learning and become a bridge of communication and a messenger of culture. Hong Chengyi, a South Korean student who has just won the second prize in Chinese Speech Contest, spoke on behalf of the students. He recalled his study time in Shandong Normal University. He sincerely thanked the teachers for their attentive guidance and care in their studies and life. He thanked the students for their mutual care and encouragement, and unforgettably shared the joy of success together. He said that he would keep in mind the teachers' teachings and apply them to promote understanding, exchanges and cooperation with China in the world, including South Korea.
In this semester, 55 students from Kenya, Peru, Korea, Sudan, Italy, Poland, Morocco, Brazil, Tajikistan, Cameroon, United States, Mexico, Belarus, Iran passed their exam and graduated successfully.
