Recently, the National College Table Tennis Championship was held in Huludao City, Liaoning Province. The table tennis team of SDNU won two gold medals and ranked the fifth place.
The team was led by Ge Shulin, Director of the School of Physical Education and Yuan Feng.They participated in 3 competitions: group, mixed doubles and singles. In the mixed doubles competition, Wang Cong and Li Xueping of SDNU played against the mixed doubles of Wuhan University. They defeated their opponents by 3:2, and finally won the championship. In the singles competition, Wang Cong's opponent won the championship for three consecutive times from 2015 to 2017, but Wang Cong dared to fight hard and finished the competition successfully, earning the gold medals in the men's singles event. In the group competition, SDNU’s team members defeated Northwest Polytechnic University ,Shenzhen University and Hunan Normal University respectively, but they were defeated by the strong opponent Peking University and lost the competition, and finally ranked the fifth place.
