From 14th to 16th May, the joint conference of Confucius institute in Africa hosted by Confucius Institute headquarters / Hanban was held in Maputo, capital of Mozambique.Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the National People's Congress attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The Chinese ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian,the Secretary of the Party committee of Confucius Institute headquarters / Hanban Ma Jianfei,were present together with more than 300 people including the leaders of 60 Chinese and foreign cooperative universities,Chinese directors and local directors of Confucius Institutes(classes),and representatives from Chinese and African enterprises.Man Baoyuan, vice president of SDNU, led a delegation to attend the conference. Man Baoyuan introduced the achievements, advantages and experience of the work of Confucius Institutes and the education of overseas students in SDNU.Man Baoyuan made extensive contact with Hanban and the participants of the conference, exchanged experience and expressed the willingness of cooperation. During the conference, he chaired a meeting on the work of Confucius Institute at Kenyatta University during which he discussed with Kenyan director on the selection of the scholarship students in the Confucius Institute, the establishing of Chinese major and the cultivation of local teachers.
After the joint conference,Man Baoyuan was invited to visit University of Gezira,Sudan.Vice Chancellor Mohamed and Deputy Vice Chancellor Alawad warmly welcomed the delegation. During the visit, Man Baoyuan briefly introduced SDNU such as the history,the campus environment, the international cooperation and exchange, the education of overseas students and so on.Both sides had a deep exchange on the cultivation of overseas students in China, exchange of teachers and students, and the assistance in the establishment of the Chinese Center in the University of Gezira, and concluded a memorandum of understanding.
The delegation also visited the Confucius Institute at Khartoum University and both sides had a sufficient communication on the cultivation of overseas students in China.
