On March 8th 2018,Douglas Brodie, vice president of the University of Strathclyde together with Lu Maozu, director of the Chinese Academy of University of Strathclyde paid a visit to SDNU. Zhang Wenxin, Deputy Secretary of the Party committee of SDNU received the guests in Qianfoshan Campus. The two sides have discussed in depth about the subjects such as future high-level cooperation in running school, the introduction of the foreign professors of economics and law, as well as the start of the student joint training programs. The two sides reached a consensus.

Zhang Wenxin warmly welcomed the two guests , he reviewed the exchanges of the two universities and highly praised the achievements made by the two sides in just one year. He said that the cooperation with overseas colleges and universities will be closer as SDNU pays more attention to the internationalization . The history of the cooperation and exchange between the two universities is short, but the two sides have made enormous achievements in student exchanges ,academic cooperation and teacher exchanges which are clear to all and have gradually become a major highlight of the internationalization of SDNU. He expressed gratitude for the efforts made by the two guests, and said that the future cooperation projects of the two sides would be promoted as priority and key projects.

On behalf of University of Strathclyde ,Douglas Brodie was grateful for the warm hospitality. He agreed with Zhang Wenxin on the opinions of the cooperation between the two universities. He said that though the cooperation between the two universities was brief, the relations between the two sides were rising rapidly, cooperation was becoming richer and richer. He praised SDNU's positive attitude to promote cooperation and affirmed SDNU's meticulous arrangement and thoughtful service for the exchanges of the teachers, student summer camp and talents exchanges. He hoped that, on the basis of good cooperation at the present stage, the two sides would continue to deepen the cooperation and develop more projects in a higher and broader field in the future. In addition, he said that he would work with Lu Maozu to promote the development of subjects of law and economics in SDNU.
