On April 24th, the 6th National College Youth Teacher Teaching Competition was held in Tsinghua University. Zhou Feng, a teacher from the School of Mathematics and Statistics of SDNU, won the first prize in the Science Group, achieving a breakthrough in SDNU’s first prize in the National College Youth Teacher Teaching Competition and also achieving the best performance in Shandong Province's universities over the years.
This competition consists of five groups: the humanities group, the science group, the engineering group, the medical group, and the ideological and political course. In the final stage, the contestants randomly select a teaching segment on-site, conduct a 20 minute simulated classroom teaching, and write a 500 word teaching reflection. Seven judges rated teaching design, classroom teaching, and teaching reflection separately.
In recent years, SDNU has actively carried out teacher training and teacher competitions, achieving the integration of training and teaching, and promoting the improvement of young teachers' teaching level and quality.
The National Teaching Competition for Young College Teachers has been held every two years since 2012. The competition was co sponsored by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Ministry of Education, organized by the China Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Trade Union and the Department of Teacher Affairs of the Ministry of Education, and co organized by the Beijing Education Trade Union and Tsinghua University. 158 contestants from 121 Universities and colleges participated in the finals, with 5 first prizes, 10 second prizes, and 15-17 third prizes for each group.
