On Jan 3, the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC announced at Nankai University that Cao Xuetao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed presidentof Nankai University. Cao Xuetao was the former president of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and president of Peking Union Medical College.
Cao Xuetao, a 1981 alumni of Attached Senior High School of Shandong Normal University,was born in Shandong in 1964.He is an immunologist,anacademician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a foreign academician of the National College of medicine of the USA, a foreign academician of German Academy of Sciences, a foreign academician of British Academy of Medical Sciences, and a foreign academician of French Academy of Medical Sciences. He graduated from the Second Military Medical University in Shanghai in 1986 and received his Ph.D. degree in 1990. He was promoted as a professor in 1993 and served as the director of the Institute of immunology in 2001 and the director of the National Key Laboratory of medical immunology in 2006. He founded Chinese Journal of Cancer Biotherapy and served as the editor in chief,and served as a co-editor of Cellular and Molecular Immunology , a deputy editor of Gene Therapy、Journal of Molecular Medicine、Cancer Immunology Research, an editorial board member of Cell、Annual Reviews of Immunology、Science Translational Medicine， Science Advances ,eLife and so on.
