1. Brief Introduction of UNC
University of Northern Colorado (hereinafter referred to as UNC), was founded in 1889, formerly known as Colorado State Normal University. It is a teaching and research oriented, comprehensive public university accredited by the Carnegie Higher Education Foundation, one of the most cost-effective public universities in the United States, reviewed by US News and World Report. The university has Academy of Educational and Behavioral Sciences, College of Liberal Arts, Academy of Sports and Natural Sciences, School of Business and School of Art. It has the right to grant doctor, master and bachelor's degree. With a strong faculty team, the university focuses on cultivating students' innovation, exploration and creative competence. The climate in UNC is pleasant and the environment is beautiful, with the Rocky Mountains to the west, the Great Plains of the American West to the east, and it is also adjacent to many famous national parks. At present, there are 12,084 students in the university.
The School of Business in UNC has reached the highest attestation standard of the world's top business school. The undergraduate course was the only Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Course awarded by the president's office of the United States. The Academy of Educational and Behavioral Sciences has obtained the accreditation of the American Teacher Cultivation Certification Association since 1954. The course of the Institute of Sports Management has been awarded as one of the top five research courses in the world by the international business magazine "International Sports Business". The Philharmonic Orchestra has been nominated by the Student Music Award of Downbeat for the tenth time as the best classical ensemble since 1999. The First Experiment Jazz Orchestra has won 7 Student Music Awards of Downbeat in the past 9 years. The online master's education program is evaluated by US News and World Report for eighth in the United States.
2. Professional Settings
UNC now has Academy of Educational and Behavioral Sciences, College of Liberal Arts, Academy of Sports and Natural Sciences, School of Business and School of Fine Arts. It has the right to grant doctor’s, master’s and bachelor's degrees. In line with the agreement on Double Master’s Degrees Jointly Training Program, the graduate students of the 2017 studying related major in our university can all apply for the program. The following majors are available:
M.S. in Biological Sciences, 30 credits; M.S. in Chemistry: Education, 30 credits; M.S. in Chemistry: Research, 30 credits; M.B.S. in Biomedical Science,30 credits; M.A. in Earth Sciences, 30 credits; M.A. in Multilingual Education: World Languages Licensure Program, 33 credits; M.A. in Multilingual Education: TESOL, 30 credits; M.A. in Educational Psychology, 30 credits; M.A. in Music Education, 30-33 credits, needing submission of works and English micro-teaching video; M.S. in Sport and Exercise Science: Biomechanics, 30-33 credits; M.S. in Sport and Exercise: Social Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity, 30 credits; M.S. in Sport and Exercise Science: Sport Pedagogy,33 credits.
The multilingual education&multilingual teaching certificate, as well as the multilingual teaching&TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program enjoy a highlight of cooperation between the two universities. Choosing the Chinese teachers' qualification certificate, if one passes the examination of the local teacher qualification certificate after graduation, a qualification certificate for primary and secondary school teachers in the United States is available, which is approved by 47 states in the United States. And eligible people can also obtain employment in the local primary and secondary schools after graduation. On the basis of the agreement between two universities, students in the stage of graduate study can transfer part of the course credits from SDNU to UNC, which allows students to obtain some course exemption in UNC.
3. Cultivation Model
(1) Academic postgraduate students will adopt"1+1+1" model, which means that during the first year in SDNU, students are supposed to study related courses according to the training program, and complete the thesis proposal. In the second year at UNC, students need to complete the relevant courses and write papers in accordance with the teaching syllabus of UNC. Students who achieve completion of study will receive master’s degree certificates awarded by UNC in accordance with their majors. In the third year, students are supposed to return to SDNU to complete the master's thesis and the defense of the thesis. A diploma and a corresponding master's degree certificate will be issued to those who meet the graduation and degree requirements of SDNU.

(3) The multilingual education&multilingual teaching qualifications and multilingual teaching&TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program give academic recognition to the following courses in SDNU: Foreign Language Teaching Psychology, Second language Acquisition, Comparative Linguistics and Intercultural Communication.
4. Application Requirements:
(1) Those who apply for the program have to be full-time postgraduate students of 2017 and 2016 studying related majors in SDNU, with high-achievement in study, and the average professional score of the first semester must not be less than 80 points, no failed courses.
(2) The applicant needs to have a good command of English, achieving 6.5 points in IELTS or 80 points in TOEFL. Students who currently have no TOEFL or IELTS scores can also apply. In March 2018, UNC will assign professional language testers for the applicants; passing the internal test of language can also be regarded as meeting the requirement.
(3) The applicant is supposed to have high morality, strong ideal and belief, good learning style and high academic character. The applicant also needs to possess physical and mental health, the ability to complete various academic courses and other extracurricular activities in UNC. The applicant need to pass the psychological tests organized by SDNU as well.
5. The expense
The cost of master's degree in tuition and health insurance is $11,441 per semester (about RMB 68,646 yuan). The cost of living (accommodation, catering, and transportation) is about 6,000 dollars per semester (about RMB 36,000 yuan).On the basis of the agreement between the two universities, after officially registering at UNC, the students can enjoy $1,500 per semester for tuition remission and $100 per month for accommodation allowance during the period of study stipulated in the agreement.
6. Application Procedures
(1) The applicant need to fill in "Application Form of Studying Abroad" (download in attachments), stamp the official seal of school and the dean's signature. Hand in the form to the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation before March 23rd, 2018.
(2) The Graduate School and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation will review the applicants' qualifications with the relevant departments after receiving the applications, and determine the time of the interview of internal test of language.
(3) Students who are qualified will be organized by the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation to prepare the application materials. After receiving the application materials, UNC will announce the admission results before the end of June 2018.
