The First SDNU Dongyue Forum for Young Scholars aims to build an academic exchange platform for young scholars at home and abroad, focus on the frontier science and technology, explore discipline hotspots, promote cooperation and development, and help with the growth of young scholars. Meanwhile, we hope to promote the reform and development of the university and attract the outstanding young talents from home and abroad to SDNU.

Ⅰ.Disciplines

This forum is closely related to the national major strategy as well as the needs of economic and social development, combined with the development of key disciplines and talent team construction plan, it is mainly related to the following disciplines.

Chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, geography, ecology and statistics, optical engineering, materials science and engineering, electronic science and technology, information and communication engineering, control science and engineering, computer science and technology, chemical engineering and technology, environmental science and engineering, management science and engineering, biomedical Science, energy and materials, theoretical economics, applied economics, psychology etc..

Ⅱ.Application requirements

Anyone who meets the following requirements can apply for the forum.

A. The talents who have been selected in the Thousand Talents Plan, top-notch young talents of the Ten Thousand Talents Plan, young Yangtze River Scholars, obtainers of National Natural Science Excellent Youth Fund , or candidates of the above 4 talents’ programs who have been discussed by the judges .

B. fresh PhD graduates of global top 200 universities, or professionals who has ever worked as postdoctoral researchers in global top 200 universities or global top 100 universities or research institutions of Global Nature Index, or engaged in research work abroad for more than 2 years after getting a doctor's degree, and the age shall not exceed 40.

And the applicants must make one of the following academic achievements, he should:

1. in the past 5 years, publish papers on top international journals, such as Science, Nature, Cell, etc as authors or first authors (co-first author excluded).

2. In the past 5 years, publish at least 3 papers (in his field of research) in the top journals or in the SCI, SSCI (on the third zone or above)as correspondence author or first author (co-first author excluded),of which one paper should be at least on the first zone (The zoning of SCI and SSCI journals are based on the zoning criterion of JCR in Chinese Academy of Sciences).

3. In the last 5 years, publish SCI or SSCI journal papers as correspondence author or first author (co-first author excluded), the sum of frequency being quoted adds up to 200 (100 for engineering and technology papers. )

4. Be excellent talents with international invention patents, he should master core technology and play guiding role in the development of high and new technology industry.

C. The youth talents at home and abroad who have made outstanding academic achievements in their respective fields, with high academic level and strong potential for development of young people.

Ⅲ. Application procedure

A. Young scholars who want to apply for the forum should send their resumes and relevant attachments to the contact of corresponding branch forum. Deadline for the application is March 1^st, 2018.

B. SDNU will send formal letters of invitation to young scholars who meet above requirements before March 6^th.

From March 23^rd to March 25^th

B. Agenda

March 23^rd (all day): registration;

Morning of March 24^th: opening ceremony and introduction of our university;

Afternoon of March 24^th: branch forums of all disciplines, discussion and communication for talents;

Morning of March 25^th: a visit to the campus, housing provided for talents, experiment platforms and so on.

Afternoon of March 25^th: All attendees leave the meeting.

Ⅴ: Service guarantee

A. All domestic and overseas travel expenses (from March 1rd,2018 to April 16^th, 2018) will be reimbursed by SDNU. Accommodation will be provided by the forum and fees will be covered by SDNU.

B. After receiving formal letters of invitation, all attendees should schedule their trip and purchase plane tickets by themselves. Travel expenses will be reimbursed on spot after the registration. (The travel expenses for each attendee shall not exceed 12,000 RMB. The reimbursement will be strictly based on your actual travel expenses.)

Ⅰ.Treatment for introduced talents

SDNU offers favorable developing environment, pleasant working conditions and generous remuneration for introduced talents. The treatment for participants of the national Thousands of Young Talents Plan who apply for the project as staff of SDNU is as follows:

A: The support from the nation and Shandong province: Chinese government will provide allowances of 500,000 yuan and research funding of 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 yuan. Shandong province will provide allowance of 500,000 yuan.

B: The support from SDNY

1. Living condition

(1) remuneration: annual salary of 600,000 yuan. Moreover, research reward will be given according to the related regulations of SDNU, more pay for more work.

(2) housing: Introduced talents will be provided a set of property-right apartment of 140 square meters located at Wenhuijiayuan, Changqinghu campus (with a value of 1,700,000 yuan).

(3) spouse’s work: SDNU can arrange work for your spouse.

(4) children’s education: SDNU has the first elementary education group in Shandong Province. Its full-blown elementary education system consists of affiliated kindergarten, primary school, middle school and high school, which has been publicly considered as outstanding education resource. Thus, SDNU can provide favorable education environment for your children.

2.Working condition

(1) team construction funds: Introduced talents will be provided team construction funds of 1,500,000 yuan to 3,000,000 yuan

(2) profession technique post: Introduced talents will be appointed as professors.

(3) Postgraduate Enrollment: The talents will be appointed as doctoral supervisors and provided exclusive quotas for doctoral enrollment.

(4) resource allocation: SDNU will give priority to your team construction, the arrangement of your office and research space and the recommendation of your application for all kinds of talents program.

C. The talents who participate in the oral defense of the national Thousands of Young Talents Plan will be offered annual salary of 450,000 yuan as well as corresponding treatment and working conditions.

Ⅱ.Brief introduction of our university

Shandong Normal University (SDNU) is located in the famous historical and cultural city –the spring city , Jinan. Founded in 1950, SDNU was included in the first batch of famous universities with characteristics aiming to cultivate application-oriented talents in Shandong Province. In March 2014, it was approved as an institution of higher learning jointly built by both Shandong Province and the Ministry of Education.

Currently, there are 84 undergraduate programs, 9 post-doctoral research stations, 10 first-level disciplines for doctorate degree granting, 29 first-level disciplines for master’s degree granting and 15 types of professional degree authorization, which ranks the top of all provincial colleges and universities in the number of subjects and disciplines. SDNU has 1 key national discipline and 1 national key nurturing discipline;4 disciplines are under project-oriented construction of first-class discipline; 3 specialties are approved as key disciplines of high-level application-oriented construction of Shandong Province; 1 discipline is taken into the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database, ranking top 1%. In the third national discipline assessment (2012), SDNU got the best grade in provincial universities,18 disciplines were put into evaluation, among which 11 disciplines ranked top 50%. SDNU has established 46 research and training institutions in national level and above provincial and ministerial level, such as 1 National Experimental Demonstration Teaching Center, 1 Key Lab of Ministry of Education and so on. It has also established inter-university exchanges and cooperation with 119 institutions in 25 countries and regions and built 4 overseas Confucius Institutes and 1 overseas Confucius Classroom.

Among the whole staff of 2,552, there are 1,796 full-time teachers and 4 academicians who were Bilaterally Contractual Employed. 19 teachers were selected as state-level talents who participated in National Ten Thousands Talents Plan , National Thousands of Talents Plan, National Millions of Thousands of Talents project and Cultivating Innovative Talents Project on Theory. There are also chief scientists in 973 project, Distinguished Professor of National Outstanding Youth and Changjiang Scholars of the Ministry of Education. 19 people were awarded national honorary title of the National Excellent Teachers, 89 people enjoy the special government allowances of the State Council, 4 were selected for “New Century Excellent Talent Support Program” of the Ministry of Education, 21 were selected for Mount Tai Scholars Project of Shandong Province and 27 were honored with the title of young and middle-aged experts with outstanding achievements. 1 team was selected as the innovative team in key fields of the innovative talents advancing projects of the Ministry of Technology, 1 team was selected the innovative team supported by the Ministry of Education and has gained continuous support and 10 teams were selected as the national and provincial teaching team. 24 were selected as excellent teachers in national and provincial level. SDNU ranks 31rd among all Chinese mainland universities in the global Nature Index 2017 list.

At present, in the context of building world-class universities and world-class disciplines, SDNU is seizing the opportunity and raising up its spirit to push forward school reform and accelerate development as well, striving to build a first-class comprehensive normal university in China.
