Recently, the research team led by Dr. Chen Lei, a young teacher from the Schoolof Life Sciences of SDNU, with the support of the major scientific and technological innovation project by the Department of Science and Technology of Shandong Province, jointly developed novel coronavirus nucleic acid rapid detection test kit together with Weifang Anpu Future Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Shandong Health Precision Medical Industry Technology Research Institute.
At present, nucleic acid detection in the market is still a traditional fluorescence quantitative PCR method, which takes about 2 hours with high risk of infection. The test kit developped by SDNU adopts constant temperature amplification technology, simplifies the operation steps, shortens the amplification detection time, and the whole detection process takes less than 20 minutes. "skilled testers can complete the test in 5 to 10 minutes." Yang Guiwen, director of the School of Life Sciences, said. Because the operation time is reduced, the infection risk of the tester is greatly reduced and the operation safety is increased. At present, the test kit has been under the examination and reporting procedure of the State Food and Drug Administration.
